本书意在向读者提供有关英语语言学的基本概念和知识，适当介绍过去五十年来有关语言学几个主要领域所取得的最新研究成果；更重要的是，将语言学的基本理论的讲解和英语语言学习相结合，将所讲理论用来指导英语学习，并通过大量语言实际使用过程中的例子来培养学生对英语语言的感性认识和理性认识，提高语言实际使用能力。
作者简介
段满福男，蒙古族，硕士，内蒙古大学外国语学院副教授，内蒙古大学澳大利亚研究中心副主任，1973年2月生于呼和浩特。主要给研究生讲授“语言学概论”和“社会语言学”；给本科生讲授“语言学”、“词汇学”、“英语语法”，并承担“综合英语”重点课程建设任务。个人研究领域为语言学和英语教学。参编《计算机专业英语》(2002)、《大学英语词汇和语法必备》(2007)等；参译《语际交流中的社会语言学》(1999)、《想象力的修养》(2003)等；发表《谈英语一词多义现象》(2004)、《英汉完成体比较》(2004)等论文10余篇。主持澳中协会国际项目“PreparationofaCourseontheHis-toryofAuStralianLiteratureforPostgraduates”(2006)、内蒙古大学青年科学基金项目《从英语单词构词理据探讨大学生如何扩充词汇量》(2005-2007)等。
李满亮男，1975年1月出生，硕士，内蒙古大学外国语学院英语系讲师。主要研究兴趣包括系统功能语言学、语篇分析、社会语言学。
